What Is the UAE Lottery?
The UAE Lottery is the country’s national lottery, and the first to be licensed under the UAE’s federal gaming rules. According to Khaleej Times, the GCGRA confirmed in December 2024 that only three operators may run lottery activities in the UAE:
| Licensed operator | Type |
| The UAE Lottery (The Game LLC) | The only national lottery licence |
| Big Ticket | Abu Dhabi airport lottery, running for about 30 years |
| Dubai Duty Free | Dubai airport raffle, running for about 30 years |
All other lottery-style draws were ordered to stop. The GCGRA also warned that playing with unlicensed operators carries risks of fraud, data theft and financial loss.
Is the UAE Lottery legal? Yes. It is the only lottery with a national licence from the GCGRA, a federal authority.
What Happened to Emirates Draw and Mahzooz?
If you searched for an “Emirates lottery”, you may be thinking of Emirates Draw or Mahzooz. These popular weekly draws are not among the three licensed lottery operators confirmed by the GCGRA in December 2024, so they no longer run lottery draws in the UAE. Today, the UAE Lottery is the official national lottery.

How to Buy UAE Lottery Tickets Online
The UAE Lottery is sold online through the official website, theuaelottery.ae, and its official app. According to Khaleej Times, scratch cards are also online-only for now, although the operator has said it plans to expand to retail outlets in future.
Steps to buy a UAE lottery ticket online:
- Go to theuaelottery.ae or download the official UAE Lottery app.
- Create an account. You must be 18 or over and a UAE resident, and you’ll need to verify your identity.
- Add funds or pay by card, using the payment options shown in your account.
- Choose your game (Lucky Day, Pick 3, Pick 4 or a scratch card).
- Pick your numbers.
- Confirm and pay before sales close at 8:00 PM on draw day.
- Your tickets appear in your account, and results are shown after the draw.
There’s no separate application. If you searched “apply to lottery”, you don’t need to apply for the UAE Lottery. You simply register an account and buy tickets.
If the registration form asks for a postal code, enter 00000, as the UAE has no postcodes. Our Dubai postal code guide explains why. It’s also worth checking your bank balance before paying online. Our online ATM balance inquiry guide shows the free ways to do it.
Only use the official website or app. Fake lottery websites, WhatsApp messages and social media pages often copy the UAE Lottery’s branding to steal card details or ask winners to pay “fees”. The real UAE Lottery never asks you to pay money to receive a prize.
Buying a Lottery Ticket in Dubai: Dubai Duty Free
Want to buy a lottery ticket in Dubai? The UAE Lottery is a national lottery, so you can play it from Dubai online, and there is no separate “Dubai lottery”. The most famous Dubai lucky draw tickets are sold by Dubai Duty Free, one of the three licensed operators.
The Dubai lottery ticket price depends on the draw. According to Bayut:
| Dubai Duty Free draw | Ticket price | Prize |
| Millennium Millionaire | AED 1,000 | USD 1 million |
| Finest Surprise (car) | AED 500 | A luxury car |
| Finest Surprise (motorbike) | AED 100 | A motorbike |
Tickets are sold online on the Dubai Duty Free website and at counters in Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports. Bayut notes that tickets can’t be refunded or exchanged once bought.
Big Ticket Abu Dhabi
Big Ticket is the other licensed airport lottery. Tickets cost AED 500, and draws are held monthly on the 3rd. Tickets are sold online and at Zayed International Airport and Al Ain Airport counters.
UAE Lottery Price Comparison
| Draw | Ticket price | Top prize | Frequency |
| UAE Lottery Lucky Day | AED 50 | AED 30 million | Twice a week |
| UAE Lottery Pick 3 and Pick 4 | AED 5 | Up to AED 25,000 | Daily |
| Big Ticket | AED 500 | Varies (often AED 15 to 30 million) | Monthly |
| Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire | AED 1,000 | USD 1 million | Every few weeks |
Winning and Claiming Prizes
How winners are paid: when the first AED 100 million prize was won in October 2025, the UAE Lottery’s commercial gaming director, Scott Burton, explained that winners receive the full prize as a single lump sum, with no tax and no deductions.
How to claim a big prize:
- The UAE Lottery contacts the winner.
- The winner attends an in-person meeting at the UAE Lottery office.
- Identity is verified and documents are signed.
- Regulatory and bank checks are completed, which can take several weeks for large prizes.
- The money is transferred to the winner’s bank account.
Smaller prizes are usually credited directly to your online account.
Notable UAE Lottery Winners
- October 2025: Anilkumar Bolla, an Abu Dhabi resident, won the first AED 100 million grand prize under the original format.
- 2026: under the new format, several players have won the AED 30 million Grand Prize, including a winner in the Wednesday draw during Eid Al Adha 2026.
UAE Lottery Details: Old Format vs New Format
| Original Lucky Day | Current Lucky Day | |
| Jackpot | AED 100 million | AED 30 million |
| Ticket price | AED 50 | AED 50 |
| Draws | Once a week (Saturday) | Twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday) |
| Guaranteed Lucky Chance winners | Changed over time | 3 x AED 50,000 per draw |
| Prize sharing | Grand Prize and 2nd Prize shared equally between winners |
According to the UAE Lottery’s announcements, the jackpot changed from AED 100 million to AED 30 million, with more prize tiers, after the final AED 100 million draw. The Lucky Chance raffle started at 3 x AED 100,000 per weekly draw under the AED 30 million format, then became 3 x AED 50,000 per draw when draws moved to twice a week.
Play Responsibly
A lottery is entertainment, not a way to make money. With odds of about 1 in 8.8 million for the Lucky Day jackpot, most tickets won’t win a large prize.
- Set a monthly budget you can afford to lose, and stick to it
- Never borrow money or use your salary for essential bills to buy tickets
- Don’t chase losses by buying more tickets
- Use any spending limits offered in your account
- Take a break if playing stops being fun
The UAE Lottery is strictly 18+. If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, speak to a doctor or a mental health professional for support.
