UAE Guides is an independent, general website covering everything related to the United Arab Emirates. We help residents, workers, families and visitors understand life in the UAE and get things done quickly and correctly, from checking a salary card balance and topping up a Nol card to planning around public holidays, finding places to visit, and keeping up with new rules and trends.
Our promise is simple: the right answer first, explained clearly, and checked against official sources.
Why We Started UAE Guides
UAE Guides was launched in 2026 because we kept running into the same problem: finding a simple, correct answer to an everyday UAE question was harder than it should be.
Search for “how to check my salary card balance” or “when is the next public holiday” and you’ll often find pages that:
- Copy each other, including each other’s mistakes
- Still show old fees, old phone numbers or apps that have been renamed
- Present guesses as facts, such as Eid dates before the moon has been sighted
- Bury the answer under long introductions and adverts
- Suggest unofficial shortcuts that could put your money or personal data at risk
The people most affected are often the ones with the least time to waste: workers checking whether their salary has arrived, new residents learning how things work, and families planning a holiday around dates that keep moving.
So we set out to build something better: a website where every guide gives you the answer in the first few lines, explains the details in plain language, and tells you honestly where the information comes from.
Who We Write For
We write for everyone who lives in, works in or visits the UAE, with a special focus on people who need clear, practical help:
- Salaried workers, including those paid on WPS salary cards such as FAB Ratibi and LuLu Exchange cards, who need to check balances and understand their rights when a salary is late
- New residents and expats getting used to UAE banks, transport, government services and holidays
- Families planning school breaks, travel and long weekends around official holiday dates
- Commuters using the Dubai Metro, buses and trams every day
- Visitors and tourists who need quick, reliable answers during their stay
We keep our language simple on purpose. Many of our readers speak English as a second or third language, so we use short sentences, tables and step-by-step lists, and we explain official terms instead of assuming you already know them.
What We Cover
We cover everything related to the UAE. Our main topics are:
- Banking and salary cards: balance checks for FAB and Ratibi cards, LuLu Exchange salary cards and bank ATMs, including real fees and what to do when a salary hasn’t arrived. Start with our NBAD balance inquiry and Lulu balance check guides.
- Everyday banking: free ways to check your balance, ATM fees between banks, and safe banking habits. See our online ATM balance inquiry guide.
- Transport: Nol card balances, fares, card types and top-ups for the Dubai Metro, buses and tram. See our Nol card balance check guide.
- Public holidays: confirmed and expected holiday dates, Eid breaks, long weekends and your rights if you work on a holiday. See UAE public holidays.
- Government and community programmes: eligibility rules, benefits and how to apply, such as our Fazaa card guide.
We also cover:
- Work and business: jobs, labour law, salaries, company setup and freelancing

How We Research and Check Information
Accuracy is the most important thing we do. Every guide follows the same process.
1. We start with official sources
We check information against the organisation that actually runs the service. Our main sources include:
| Topic | Sources we check first |
| Public holidays and laws | The UAE Government portal (u.ae), UAE Cabinet announcements |
| Work and salaries | The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) |
| Banking rules | The Central Bank of the UAE |
| Transport | The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) |
| Bank and card services | The official websites, fee schedules and key facts statements of each bank or exchange house |
| Government programmes | The programme’s own website and official announcements |
2. We use trusted news for fast-moving updates
Some information changes quickly, such as Eid holiday announcements or new salary rules. For these, we use established UAE news outlets like Gulf News, Khaleej Times, The National and the Emirates News Agency (WAM), and we name the outlet in the article.
3. We label anything that isn’t confirmed
If a detail is only reported by third-party websites, or a date depends on moon sighting, we say so clearly. For example, our holiday guides separate confirmed dates from expected dates. We would rather tell you “this isn’t confirmed yet” than give you a wrong answer with confidence.
4. We check the numbers
Fees, phone numbers, dates and limits are checked against the original source before we publish. Where a fee or rule differs between banks or sectors, we show the difference instead of giving one general figure.
5. We review and update
UAE rules, apps and fees change often. We review our guides when an official change is announced, when readers report something outdated, and on a regular schedule for time-sensitive topics such as holidays. When we update a guide, we change the date on the article.
What We Will Never Do
Trust is earned by what you refuse to do as much as by what you do. At UAE Guides:
- We will never ask for your personal banking details. No one from UAE Guides will ever ask for your card number, PIN, OTP, CVV, Emirates ID number or passwords. If someone claiming to be from us does, it’s a scam.
- We don’t share “shortcuts” that break rules, such as leaked company codes, unofficial balance-check tools or apps from unknown publishers.
- We don’t pretend to be an official website. We are not a government body, bank or transport authority, and we always point you to the official channel to complete a task.
- We don’t let payments change our content. Companies cannot pay to change what our guides say about them.
- We don’t publish guesses as facts.
Our Independence and How We Are Funded
UAE Guides is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with any government entity, bank, exchange house, transport authority or company we write about.
To keep our guides free for everyone, the Website may show advertising from third parties. Advertisers have no say in what we write, and ads are kept separate from our content. You can read how advertising and cookies work on our website in our Privacy Policy.
Our Values
- Accuracy over speed. We would rather publish a correct guide an hour later than a wrong one first.
- Clarity over length. Every section has to help you do something or understand something.
- Honesty about uncertainty. If something isn’t confirmed, we tell you.
- Respect for every reader. Our guides are written for everyone, whatever their job, income or level of English.
- Safety first. We always point you to official channels and warn you about scams.
Corrections and Feedback
We work hard to keep every guide accurate, but rules and dates in the UAE can change overnight. If you spot something outdated or wrong, please tell us. We check every report against official sources and update the guide if needed, usually as a priority for money, salary and holiday topics.
We also welcome topic ideas. Many of our guides start with a real question from a reader, so if there’s something you’ve struggled to find a clear answer to, let us know.
