Hijri dates follow the UAE calendar. Islamic months begin with the moon sighting, so a date can shift by a day and may differ from other countries.

How the month changes: in autumn and early winter, Fajr gets later and Maghrib gets earlier by roughly a minute a day, so the fasting window shortens by about half an hour a month. In spring and early summer the movement reverses. The gap between Maghrib and Isha stays close to 1 hour 15 minutes for most of the year, widening to about 1 hour 30 minutes in June.

Fajr Time Dubai

Fajr time in Dubai today is 4:54 AM. Fajr is the dawn prayer of 2 rakats, and its time begins at true dawn, when the first light spreads across the eastern horizon. It ends at sunrise, which today is at 6:07 AM, giving you a window of about 1 hour 13 minutes.

In the UAE, Fajr is calculated when the sun is 18.2 degrees below the horizon, the angle used for Dubai’s official calendar. Across the year, Fajr in Dubai moves between roughly 3:58 AM in mid-June and about 5:45 AM in mid-January.

For fasting: Fajr also marks the start of the fast (imsak). If you fast voluntarily on Mondays and Thursdays, finish suhoor before the Fajr adhan.

Zuhr Time Dubai (Dhuhr)

Zuhr time in Dubai today is 12:12 PM. Dhuhr, also written Zuhr or Duhr, is the midday prayer of 4 rakats. It begins just after the sun passes its highest point (solar noon) and lasts until Asr starts.

Dhuhr in Dubai stays close to midday all year, moving only between about 12:06 PM and 12:36 PM. On Fridays, Dhuhr is replaced by Jumuah prayer for men who attend the mosque, at 12:45 PM.

Asr Time and Asr Prayer Time Dubai (اذان العصر)

Asr prayer time in Dubai today is 3:33 PM. Asr is the afternoon prayer of 4 rakats. In Arabic, the call for this prayer is اذان العصر (Adhan al-Asr), and it’s one of the most searched prayer times because it falls in the middle of the working afternoon.

How Asr time is set: Asr begins when the shadow of an object equals its own length plus its shadow at noon. This is the standard method used by the Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, and it’s the method used for official UAE prayer times, including the time you hear the Asr adhan from Dubai mosques.

Hanafi Asr time: the Hanafi school starts Asr when the shadow is twice the object’s length. In Dubai, this makes Hanafi Asr later by about 45 minutes in winter and up to 1 hour 20 minutes in summer. Today, the Hanafi Asr time would be around 4:28 PM. Many residents from South Asia follow this timing, and most prayer apps let you switch the “Asr method” in settings.

Asr ends at sunset. It’s best not to delay it until the sun turns pale near the horizon.

Maghrib Time Dubai (Iftar Time Today)

Maghrib time in Dubai today is 6:09 PM. Maghrib is the sunset prayer of 3 rakats, and it begins as soon as the sun has fully set. It has the shortest window of the day, lasting until Isha, so most people pray it shortly after the adhan.

Iftar time today is the same as Maghrib time. If you’re fasting a voluntary fast today, you break it at 6:09 PM in Dubai. During Ramadan, the Maghrib prayer time is the moment families across the UAE break their fast, usually with dates and water first.

Maghrib prayer time in Dubai ranges from about 5:31 PM in late November to about 7:16 PM in early July.

Isha Prayer Time Dubai

Isha prayer time in Dubai today is 7:23 PM. Isha is the night prayer of 4 rakats. In Dubai, it’s calculated when the sun is 18.2 degrees below the horizon after sunset, which usually comes about 1 hour 14 to 1 hour 30 minutes after Maghrib, depending on the season.

The preferred time for Isha is before midnight. After Isha, many worshippers pray the optional Witr prayer. During Ramadan, Taraweeh prayers are held in congregation after Isha in mosques across Dubai.

UAE Prayer Time: All Emirates Compared

Prayer times vary across the UAE because of the difference in longitude. The further east you go, the earlier the sun rises and sets. On 30 September 2026, the official prayer times were:

City Fajr Dhuhr Asr Maghrib Isha
Dubai 4:54 AM 12:12 PM 3:34 PM 6:10 PM 7:24 PM
Sharjah 4:54 AM 12:12 PM 3:34 PM 6:10 PM 7:24 PM
Ajman 4:54 AM 12:12 PM 3:34 PM 6:10 PM 7:24 PM
Abu Dhabi 4:58 AM 12:15 PM 3:40 PM 6:13 PM 7:27 PM
Ras Al Khaimah 4:51 AM 12:09 PM 3:34 PM 6:07 PM 7:21 PM
Fujairah 4:50 AM 12:08 PM 3:32 PM 6:06 PM 7:19 PM

The simple rule:

  • Abu Dhabi is about 3 to 4 minutes later than Dubai.
  • Sharjah and Ajman are usually the same as Dubai, or within a minute.
  • Ras Al Khaimah is about 3 minutes earlier than Dubai.
  • Fujairah, on the east coast, is the earliest, about 4 minutes earlier than Dubai.
  • Umm Al Quwain, just north of Ajman, is usually 1 to 2 minutes earlier than Dubai.

Prayer Time in Abu Dhabi

Prayer time in Abu Dhabi runs a few minutes behind Dubai because the capital lies further west. For example, Maghrib in Abu Dhabi on 30 September was at 6:13 PM, compared with 6:10 PM in Dubai. Abu Dhabi’s official times come from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, which is based in the capital. Al Ain, further east and inland, prays a little earlier than Abu Dhabi city.

Prayer Time Sharjah

Prayer time in Sharjah is effectively the same as Dubai, because the two cities sit side by side. If you live in Al Nahda, Al Taawun or Al Khan and work in Dubai, you can use one timetable for both. Sharjah’s mosques are managed by the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, and Sharjah follows its own Friday prayer timing, which is earlier than the rest of the UAE. Check with your local Sharjah mosque for the current Jumuah time.

Prayer Time Ajman and Namaz Timings Ajman

Prayer time in Ajman matches Dubai and Sharjah to within a minute. On 30 September, namaz timings in Ajman were Fajr 4:54 AM, Dhuhr 12:12 PM, Asr 3:34 PM, Maghrib 6:10 PM and Isha 7:24 PM. Friday prayer in Ajman follows the UAE-wide 12:45 PM timing.

Prayer Time in Ras Al Khaimah

Prayer time in Ras Al Khaimah is about 3 minutes earlier than Dubai for most prayers, as RAK lies further north and east. On 30 September, Maghrib in RAK was at 6:07 PM and Isha at 7:21 PM.

Prayer Time in Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah

Umm Al Quwain lies a little further east than Dubai, so its prayers usually come 1 to 2 minutes earlier. Fujairah, on the Gulf of Oman coast, has the earliest prayer times of all seven emirates. On 30 September, Maghrib in Fujairah was at 6:06 PM, four minutes before Dubai. Khor Fakkan and Dibba, also on the east coast, follow similar timings.

Friday Prayer Time in Dubai (Jumuah)

Friday prayer in Dubai starts at 12:45 PM, with the sermon (khutbah) followed by the 2-rakat Jumuah prayer.

Detail Information
Current timing 12:45 PM (sermon and prayer)
In effect since Friday, 2 January 2026
Previous timing 1:15 PM (from January 2022 to December 2025)
Set by General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat
Applies to Mosques across the UAE (Sharjah sets its own timing)

The 1:15 PM timing was introduced in January 2022, when the UAE moved to a Saturday and Sunday weekend and Friday became a half working day for the government. From 2026, the authority brought it forward by 30 minutes.

Tips for Friday prayer in Dubai:

  • Arrive by 12:30 PM, as popular mosques fill up quickly, especially in Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Karama and Al Quoz.
  • Plan your parking. Street parking near large mosques is limited on Fridays.
  • Private sector staff: many companies give a break or allow flexible hours on Friday afternoons. Check your company policy.

Where Dubai Prayer Times Come From

Several official bodies set prayer times in the UAE:

  • Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD): the Dubai government department that manages Dubai’s mosques and publishes the city’s official prayer calendar. You can see its services on the IACAD website.
  • General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (Awqaf): the federal authority that sets the national framework, including the Friday sermon, and publishes prayer times for every UAE city on the official Awqaf UAE website and in the AWQAF UAE app.
  • Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs: manages mosques and prayer arrangements in Sharjah.

How the Times Are Calculated

Islamic prayer times are set by the position of the sun, not by the clock:

Prayer Astronomical rule used in Dubai
Fajr Sun 18.2° below the eastern horizon (dawn)
Sunrise Upper edge of the sun appears
Dhuhr Just after solar noon
Asr Shadow length equals object length plus noon shadow
Maghrib Sun has fully set
Isha Sun 18.2° below the western horizon

Official calendars also add a small safety margin (ihtiyat) of a few minutes to some prayers, which is why the published Dhuhr and Maghrib times are slightly later than the pure astronomical moment. This is also why different apps can show times 1 to 3 minutes apart.

Tip: if your app shows different times from the mosque near you, set the calculation method to “Dubai” or “UAE (Awqaf)”. Older settings such as “Umm Al Qura” or “Muslim World League” give noticeably different Fajr and Isha times in the UAE.

Qibla Direction From Dubai

The Qibla, the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah, is about 258 degrees from true north in Dubai. In simple terms, that’s west, turned slightly towards the south.

  • Every mosque in Dubai has a mihrab (prayer niche) facing the Qibla.
  • At home or in the office, use the compass in the AWQAF UAE app or any Qibla app, and keep your phone away from metal objects.
  • Prayer rooms in malls and offices usually have a Qibla marker on the floor or wall.

Ramadan Prayer and Iftar Times in Dubai

During Ramadan, prayer times follow the same calculation, but daily life is built around two of them:

  • Suhoor ends at the Fajr adhan.
  • Iftar is at the Maghrib adhan.
  • Taraweeh prayers follow Isha every night, and Qiyam al-Layl prayers are held in the last 10 nights.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, 8 February 2027, subject to the moon sighting. In mid-February, Dubai’s Fajr is expected around 5:36 AM and Maghrib around 6:16 PM, giving a fast of about 12 hours 40 minutes. See our UAE public holidays guide for expected Eid Al Fitr 2027 dates and the holiday break.

Public transport and working hours also change during Ramadan. Check our Dubai Metro timings guide for how RTA adjusts metro hours for Ramadan and Eid.

Seasonal Guide: Dubai Prayer Times Through the Year

Prayer times shift a lot between summer and winter in Dubai. Use this as a rough guide for the middle of each season:

Mid-month Fajr Dhuhr Asr Maghrib Isha
January 5:45 AM 12:31 PM 3:31 PM 5:54 PM 7:12 PM
March 5:12 AM 12:31 PM 3:54 PM 6:31 PM 7:45 PM
June 3:58 AM 12:23 PM 3:43 PM 7:13 PM 8:41 PM
September 4:48 AM 12:17 PM 3:43 PM 6:26 PM 7:41 PM
December 5:34 AM 12:17 PM 3:12 PM 5:34 PM 6:54 PM

What this means:

  • Summer (June and July): early Fajr before 4 AM and late Isha after 8:30 PM. A summer fast lasts over 15 hours.
  • Winter (December and January): Maghrib falls before 6 PM, so Asr, Maghrib and Isha come close together in the evening.
  • Dhuhr barely moves: it stays between about 12:06 PM and 12:36 PM all year.

Dubai doesn’t use daylight saving time, so prayer times never jump by an hour. They change gradually by a minute or less each day.

Praying in Dubai: Practical Tips

Finding a place to pray:

  • Mosques: Dubai has mosques in almost every neighbourhood, many within a short walk of homes.
  • Malls: all major malls, including Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre, have separate prayer rooms for men and women with wudu (ablution) areas.
  • Offices and airports: most office towers and both terminals at Dubai International have prayer rooms.
  • Petrol stations: many highway petrol stations have small mosques, which is useful on the road to Abu Dhabi or Al Ain.

Visiting a mosque as a non-Muslim: the Jumeirah Mosque, built in 1979, is one of the few mosques in Dubai open to non-Muslim visitors on guided tours. In Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque welcomes visitors outside prayer times. Dress modestly, and women should cover their hair.

At work: there’s no legal requirement for a break at each prayer time, but most UAE employers allow short prayer breaks, and many workplaces have a prayer room.

Adhan, Iqamah and Times When Prayer Is Not Offered

Adhan vs iqamah: the adhan (azan) is the call that announces a prayer time has begun. The iqamah is the second, shorter call that signals the congregation is about to stand for prayer. In Dubai mosques, the iqamah comes a short while after the adhan, and Maghrib has the shortest gap, so arrive promptly for the sunset prayer.

Times when voluntary prayer is avoided: most scholars advise against optional (nafl) prayers at three points in the day. Missed obligatory prayers can still be made up. Using today’s Dubai times:

Time Today in Dubai (approx.)
From sunrise until the sun has risen a little 6:07 AM to about 6:20 AM
When the sun is at its highest (zawal), just before Dhuhr A few minutes before 12:12 PM
From after Asr prayer until sunset After Asr until 6:09 PM

Optional prayers with no adhan: Duha (mid-morning prayer, from about 20 minutes after sunrise until shortly before Dhuhr) and Tahajjud (night prayer, best in the last third of the night before Fajr).

Eid Prayer Time in Dubai

Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha prayers are held in the morning, shortly after sunrise, in mosques and open-air prayer grounds (musallas) across Dubai. The exact Eid prayer time for each emirate is announced by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat a few days before each Eid. There’s no adhan for Eid prayer, so arrive early, as musallas fill up well before the start time.

Why the Five Daily Prayers Matter

Salah is the second of the five pillars of Islam, after the declaration of faith (Shahada), and before Zakat, fasting in Ramadan and Hajj. Every adult Muslim prays five times a day, which adds up to 17 obligatory rakats daily. Praying on time is considered one of the most beloved deeds, which is why accurate namaz time in Dubai matters to so many residents.

Rakats for the Five Daily Prayers

Prayer Fard (obligatory) Common Sunnah prayers
Fajr 2 2 before
Dhuhr 4 4 before (or 2), 2 after
Asr 4 Optional 4 before
Maghrib 3 2 after
Isha 4 2 after, then Witr
Jumuah (Friday) 2 (replaces Dhuhr) Sunnah before and after

Sunnah prayers vary slightly between schools of thought. Your local imam can guide you on the practice he follows.
