Quick Answer: Dubai Weather at a Glance
Dubai has a hot desert climate with sunshine on almost every day of the year. The live panel at the top of this page shows the current temperature, how hot it actually feels, today’s high and low, humidity, wind, UV, air quality, sea conditions and the forecast for tomorrow and the week ahead, updated automatically for every emirate.
According to the National Center of Meteorology’s 1991 to 2020 averages for Dubai International Airport, these are the numbers that define Dubai’s weather:
In short: winter (December to February) is warm and pleasant, summer (June to September) is extremely hot and humid, and rain is rare but can arrive suddenly between November and March.
Dubai Weather Today and Tomorrow
The live forecast panel above shows today’s weather in Dubai and the other emirates, refreshed throughout the day from international weather models. Here’s how to read it and what usually changes from one day to the next.
What the live panel shows:
- Current temperature and the feels-like temperature, which includes the effect of humidity and wind
- Today’s high and low
- Humidity, wind speed and direction, and UV index
- Air quality, including dust
- Sea temperature and wave height, for beach plans
- Sunrise and sunset
- An hourly outlook for the next 24 hours
- A 7-day forecast, so you can check the weather in Dubai tomorrow and later in the week
Weather in Dubai tomorrow: what usually changes
Dubai’s weather is remarkably stable, so the weather tomorrow is usually close to today’s, in Dubai and across the other emirates. The changes worth watching are:
- Morning fog, mostly between September and March. It forms after humid, still nights and can reduce visibility on roads before about 9 AM.
- Wind and dust. The northwesterly Shamal wind can lift dust and sand, lowering visibility, raising air pollution readings and making the sea rough.
- Humidity swings. A shift to an onshore wind from the Gulf can push humidity sharply higher, making the same temperature feel much hotter.
- Rain, which is uncommon but most likely from November to March, sometimes with thunderstorms.
For official warnings about fog, dust, rough seas or rain, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is the UAE’s official weather authority.
Dubai Temperature Today: Why It Feels Hotter Than the Number
The temperature in Dubai only tells half the story. Humidity decides how the day actually feels. When the air is humid, sweat evaporates slowly and your body struggles to cool down, so the “feels like” temperature (the heat index) can be far higher than the thermometer reading.
This table shows the heat index, calculated with the US National Weather Service formula, for temperature and humidity combinations that are common in Dubai between May and October:
| Air temperature | 40% humidity | 50% humidity | 60% humidity | 70% humidity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 32°C | Feels like 32°C | 34°C | 37°C | 40°C |
| 34°C | 35°C | 38°C | 42°C | 47°C |
| 36°C | 39°C | 43°C | 48°C | 54°C |
| 38°C | 43°C | 49°C | 55°C | 63°C |
| 40°C | 48°C | 55°C | 63°C | 72°C |
How to read it:
- Feels like 32°C to 40°C: extreme caution. Heat cramps and exhaustion are possible with long exposure.
- Feels like 41°C to 53°C: danger. Heat exhaustion is likely with prolonged activity outdoors.
- Feels like 54°C or more (highlighted): extreme danger. Heatstroke is a real risk; stay in shade or air-conditioning.
This is why a humid 36°C evening on the Dubai coast can feel worse than a dry 42°C afternoon in Al Ain.
UV index. From April to September the UV index in Dubai reaches 11 to 12, which is classed as extreme. Even in winter it stays around 5, so sunscreen matters all year.

October
October marks the turning point. Highs fall to about 35.4°C and lows to 24.1°C, evenings become pleasant again, and outdoor attractions and seasonal markets begin reopening for the cooler season.
November
November is warm and comfortable, with highs near 30.6°C and lows around 20°C. The first showers of the season often arrive. It’s the start of the best time to visit Dubai.
December
Dubai December weather brings average highs of 26.2°C and lows of 16.3°C, with about 15 mm of rain on nearly four days. Daylight is at its shortest, about 10 and a half hours. December is perfect for outdoor festivals, beaches and the desert, and it’s one of the busiest and most expensive months for hotels.
Dubai Climate Explained
Dubai’s climate is classed as a hot desert climate (BWh in the Köppen climate classification). It has two main seasons and two short transitions:
Warm days of 23°C to 26°C, cool evenings, occasional rain and morning fog
Temperatures rise quickly from the high 20s to the high 30s; March brings the last showers
Highs of 39°C to 41°C, warm nights near 30°C, high humidity on the coast
Heat eases, evenings cool, the first winter showers arrive
What shapes Dubai’s weather:
- The Arabian Gulf keeps coastal humidity high and nights warmer than inland areas.
- The desert interior is drier, hotter by day and cooler at night than the coast.
- The Shamal, a northwesterly wind, brings dust and rough seas, especially in early summer and winter.
- Rare but heavy rain. Dubai averages less than 80 mm a year, but a single storm can bring much more. On 16 April 2024, Dubai International Airport recorded about 164 mm of rain, roughly two years’ worth, during the heaviest UAE rainfall since records began in 1949.
Best Time to Visit Dubai
The best time to visit Dubai is from November to March, when average highs sit between about 24°C and 31°C, humidity is moderate, and outdoor life is at its best.
| Period | Weather | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| November to March (best) | Warm days, mild evenings | Beaches, desert safaris, outdoor dining, theme parks, sightseeing | Peak hotel prices, crowds, occasional rain and fog |
| April and October (shoulder) | Hot days, pleasant evenings | Lower prices, beach clubs, evening activities | Midday heat above 33°C |
| May to September (summer) | Very hot and humid | The lowest hotel rates, malls, indoor attractions, water parks | Extreme heat, high UV, outdoor activity limited to early morning and night |
Planning tips:
- For beaches: March, April, October and November give warm sea and comfortable air.
- For the desert: November to February, when nights in the dunes are cool.
- For the lowest prices: June to August, if you plan days around indoor attractions.
- Around public holidays: prices and crowds rise during Eid and the National Day break, so check the UAE public holidays dates before booking.

Abu Dhabi Weather and Forecast Today
Abu Dhabi’s weather is close to Dubai’s but runs slightly hotter in summer, with an August average high of 43.4°C against Dubai’s 41.3°C. It’s also the driest of the coastal cities, with about 50 mm of rain a year. The emirate includes the hottest inland areas in the country: Sweihan, near Al Ain, recorded 51.8°C on 1 August 2025, a new UAE record for August. For the Abu Dhabi forecast today, select Abu Dhabi in the live panel.
Al Ain Weather
Al Ain, inland near the Hajar Mountains, is the hottest city in the UAE, with a July average high of 44.9°C. Its air is far drier than the coast, with humidity as low as 30% in May, so the heat feels harsher on the skin but less sticky. Winter nights are cool, averaging 12.8°C in January.
Sharjah Weather
Sharjah weather follows the same coastal pattern as Dubai’s, but the official station at Sharjah International Airport, slightly inland, records afternoons up to about 1.5°C warmer in summer and nights up to 1.5°C cooler in winter. In practice, tomorrow’s weather in Sharjah usually matches Dubai’s to within a degree or two. Sharjah’s enclaves on the east coast, such as Khor Fakkan and Kalba, follow the Fujairah pattern instead.
Ajman Weather Today
Ajman weather follows the Sharjah and Dubai pattern, with a humid coastal climate, hot summers and mild winters. Because Ajman sits on the same stretch of coast, its temperatures are usually within a degree of Sharjah’s. For the weather in Ajman today, select Ajman in the live panel above.
Umm Al Quwain Weather
Umm Al Quwain weather is similar to Ajman’s, with a humid coastal climate, hot summers and mild winters. Its lagoons and mangroves catch the sea breeze, and the overall pattern matches the rest of the Gulf coast.
Weather in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK Weather)
The weather in Ras Al Khaimah city is coastal, but it’s the wettest city in the UAE, averaging about 116 mm of rain a year, and it has the coolest winter nights of any city station, averaging 12.2°C in January. The Hajar Mountains behind the city help trigger winter showers.
What makes RAK truly different is Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE, rising to 1,934 metres at a summit that straddles the border with Oman. Because temperature falls by roughly 6.5°C for every 1,000 metres of height, the summit is typically around 10°C cooler than the coast. Jebel Jais is the coldest place in the UAE, and temperatures can drop below freezing in winter. The UAE’s lowest recorded temperature, minus 5.7°C, was measured on its slopes on 3 February 2017.
Fujairah Weather
Fujairah sits on the Gulf of Oman, separated from the rest of the country by the Hajar Mountains, and its climate is the most different of the seven emirates. Its summer highs are the mildest in the UAE, peaking at about 39.3°C in June and falling to 36.5°C in August, but it’s also the most humid in late summer, at about 73% in August. Winter nights are the warmest in the country, averaging 17.1°C in January. The mountains can trigger afternoon thunderstorms in the hotter months, something that’s rare on the Dubai coast.
Air Quality and Dust in Dubai
Dust is part of life in the UAE, and air quality can change quickly when the wind picks up. The live panel shows the US Air Quality Index (AQI), which combines fine particles (PM2.5), coarse particles and dust (PM10), and other pollutants into one number:
| AQI | Level | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 50 | Good | Air quality is satisfactory |
| 51 to 100 | Moderate | Acceptable; unusually sensitive people may notice effects |
| 101 to 150 | Unhealthy for sensitive groups | People with asthma, heart or lung conditions, children and older adults should reduce long outdoor activity |
| 151 to 200 | Unhealthy | Everyone may begin to feel effects; limit time outdoors |
| 201 to 300 | Very unhealthy | Avoid outdoor exertion |
| 301 and above | Hazardous | Stay indoors |
When dust is worst: dust events are most common when the Shamal blows, especially in early summer, and during the passage of winter weather systems. On dusty days, keep windows closed, run air-conditioning on recirculation, and limit outdoor exercise.
Beach and Sea Conditions
Dubai’s sea is warm enough to swim in all year. The live panel shows the current sea temperature and wave height for each coastal emirate.
- December to March: the sea is about 21°C to 23°C, refreshing but comfortable for most swimmers.
- April, May, October and November: about 25°C to 30°C, ideal beach conditions.
- June to September: 31°C to 33°C, as warm as a bath and little relief from the heat.
Safety on public beaches: always swim where lifeguards are on duty, follow the flags, and stay out of the water when rough-sea warnings are in force, usually during strong Shamal winds. The east coast (Fujairah and Khor Fakkan) faces the Gulf of Oman, so its sea conditions can differ from Dubai’s on the same day.
UAE Weather Records
| Record | Figure | Where and when |
|---|---|---|
| Highest at Dubai International Airport | 49.0°C | July (station record, 1991 to 2020 data) |
| Lowest at Dubai International Airport | 7.4°C | February (station record) |
| Highest in the UAE | 52.1°C | Widely reported as July 2002 |
| Highest August temperature in the UAE | 51.8°C | Sweihan, 1 August 2025 |
| Lowest in the UAE | Minus 5.7°C | Jebel Jais, 3 February 2017 |
| Heaviest rainfall in the UAE | 254.8 mm in under 24 hours | Khatm Al Shakla, Al Ain, 16 April 2024 |
| Rainfall at Dubai International Airport, April 2024 | About 164 mm | 15 to 17 April 2024 |
The April 2024 storm was the heaviest rainfall in the UAE since records began in 1949. It flooded roads across Dubai and led to more than 1,200 flight cancellations at Dubai International over two days.
UAE Weather Updates and Warnings
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issues the UAE’s official forecasts, bulletins and alerts in Arabic and English. If you search in Arabic, you’ll find NCM’s updates under الطقس (weather).
How NCM warnings work:
- Alerts are colour coded, rising in severity from yellow to orange to red.
- The most common alerts are for fog, dust and reduced visibility, rough seas, strong winds and rain or thunderstorms.
- Fog alerts are most frequent on winter mornings between December and February.
Practical rules during warnings:
- Fog: slow down, use low-beam headlights, and keep a long gap. Don’t use hazard lights while driving.
- Rain: avoid underpasses and valleys (wadis), which can flood within minutes.
- Dust: keep windows closed and, if you have asthma or allergies, limit time outdoors.
- Rough seas: stay out of the water when red flags fly on public beaches.
Where This Weather Data Comes From
- Climate averages in the tables on this page are the National Center of Meteorology’s official 1991 to 2020 normals for each city’s airport weather station.
- The live forecast comes from Open-Meteo, which combines leading national weather models, including the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Germany’s DWD ICON model and the US NOAA GFS model, and picks the most accurate source for each location.
- Air quality and dust readings come from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, the European Union’s atmospheric monitoring programme.
- Official warnings always come from the NCM. If a live reading and an NCM warning disagree, follow the NCM.
Staying Safe in the Dubai Heat
Summer heat in Dubai is serious, and these habits make a real difference:
- Drink water before you’re thirsty, and more than you think you need.
- Avoid direct sun from about 11 AM to 4 PM from May to September.
- Wear light, loose clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and use sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.
- Never leave children or pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, nausea and heavy sweating. Move to shade or air-conditioning and drink water.
- Use air-conditioned transport. In summer, the air-conditioned stations of the Dubai Metro are a far more comfortable way to get around, and the Dubai Metro timings guide shows when trains run each day.
The UAE midday break: every summer, outdoor work under direct sun is banned between 12:30 PM and 3 PM from 15 June to 15 September, under the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s midday break rule, which has applied every summer since 2005.
What to Pack for Dubai Weather
| Season | Pack |
|---|---|
| December to February | Light layers, a light jacket or sweater for evenings and the desert, sunglasses, sunscreen |
| March, April, October, November | Summer clothing, a light layer for air-conditioned malls, swimwear, sunscreen |
| May to September | Breathable cotton or linen, a hat, high-SPF sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, a light layer for strong indoor air-conditioning |
All year: modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees for mosques and some traditional areas.
Sunrise and Sunset in Dubai
Daylight in Dubai changes less through the year than in Europe or North America, because the city is close to the tropics:
- Longest day: about 13 and three-quarter hours in June, with sunrise around 5:25 AM and sunset around 7:10 PM.
- Shortest day: about 10 and a half hours in December, with sunrise around 6:55 AM and sunset around 5:30 PM.
The live panel shows today’s exact sunrise and sunset. Sunset also marks the time of the Maghrib prayer, and the Dubai prayer times page gives all five daily prayer times for every emirate.
