What Is a Lulu Balance Check?

A Lulu balance check means viewing the money available on a card linked to the LuLu brand. Most people searching for it hold a LuLu Exchange salary card, a payroll card their employer uses to pay wages under the UAE Wage Protection System (WPS). LuLu Exchange describes its WPS salary service as being used by over 30,000 companies and more than 400,000 employees.

The word “Lulu” covers several different products, and each has its own balance method. Identify yours first:

Is there a “Lulu Bank”? No. People often search for a “Lulu bank balance check” or “Lulu bank balance enquiry”, but LuLu International Exchange is an exchange house, not a bank. It is licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE to handle salaries, money transfers and currency exchange. The LuLu co-branded credit card is issued by Emirates NBD, so its balance is checked through Emirates NBD, not LuLu Exchange.

The Two LuLu Exchange Salary Cards

LuLu Exchange issues two WPS salary cards. Knowing which one you have explains why some methods work for you and others don’t.

1. MyPay: MyCard. The original WPS debit card. It runs on the Mastercard network for use worldwide and connects to UAE ATMs through UAE Switch membership.

2. LuLu Money Salary Card. Launched in 2023 with Mercury, the UAE’s domestic payment network, and described by LuLu Exchange as the UAE’s first digital native WPS payroll card. It works like a digital WPS account inside the LuLu Money app, supports NFC tap-to-pay, and uses the Discover network for international POS and ATM withdrawals.

Method 1: Lulu Balance Check in the LuLu Money App (Fastest)

The LuLu Money app is the official LuLu Exchange app. According to LuLu Exchange, salary cardholders can use it to check transaction history, set usage limits, reset their PIN, manage the account and block or replace the card.

Steps:

  1. Download LuLu Money from Google Play or the App Store. Use the official download link on luluexchange.com to avoid fake apps.
  2. Register with your mobile number and complete the eKYC with your Emirates ID, or log in if you already have an account.
  3. Enter the OTP sent to your registered number.
  4. Open your salary card from the home screen or card section.
  5. Your available balance and recent transactions appear on screen.

The app also lets you send money abroad from your salary balance to 170+ countries, pay utility bills in the UAE and India, and earn LuLu Money Rewardz points. LuLu Money is regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE and supports biometric login.

Who this works best for: LuLu Money Salary Card holders. MyPay: MyCard holders can use the app to send money with their card, but if your balance doesn’t show, use an ATM instead.

Method 2: Lulu ATM Balance Check

A Lulu ATM balance check works without internet and is the most reliable option on payday.

Which ATMs accept a Lulu salary card? LuLu Exchange lists cash withdrawal at all LuLu Exchange branches and at Emirates NBD, Emirates Islamic Bank and Mashreq Bank ATMs in the UAE. MyPay: MyCard also works at select UAE ATMs through UAE Switch.

Steps:

  1. Insert your Lulu ATM card into a supported ATM.
  2. Choose English or Arabic.
  3. Enter your 4-digit PIN.
  4. Select Balance Inquiry (some machines show “Balance Enquiry” or “Account Information”).
  5. Read your balance on screen, or print a receipt if you need a record.

Other banks’ ATMs may charge a fee, so stick to the ATMs listed above when you can. Our full guide to ATM balance check explains how balance enquiries work across other UAE banks.

Abroad: the LuLu Money Salary Card works at international ATMs and POS terminals on the Discover network, and MyPay: MyCard on the Mastercard network. LuLu Exchange’s Key Facts Statement warns that currency conversion and usage fees apply outside the UAE.

Method 3: LuLu Exchange Branch

LuLu Exchange has 140 branches across the UAE, many inside LuLu Hypermarkets. Take your salary card and Emirates ID to any branch and ask for a balance enquiry. Staff can also help with PIN resets, card replacements and salary questions. LuLu Exchange says WPS customers are served on priority at its branches. Find the nearest one on the official branch locator.

This is the best method if you have just received your card, forgot your PIN, or your card is blocked.

Method 4: Call LuLu Exchange

LuLu Exchange’s official number for WPS and customer care is 600 522 204. You can also email customercare@ae.luluexchange.com for complaints or wpsinfo@luluexchange.com for WPS questions.

Call from your registered mobile number and have your card and Emirates ID ready. Under Central Bank of the UAE consumer protection standards, LuLu Exchange says it acknowledges complaints within 2 business days and resolves them within 15 business days.

Method 5: SMS Balance Check

Several third-party guides report that you can check a Lulu salary card balance by sending BAL followed by a space and your card number to 51199 from your registered mobile number. LuLu Exchange does not list this on its WPS page, so treat it as a backup and call 600 522 204 to confirm the current format. Your telecom provider may charge its standard SMS rate.

Why Is My Lulu Salary Not Showing?

A zero balance on payday is usually a timing issue, not a card fault. Here is what changed in 2025 and 2026:

  • December 2025: MoHRE upgraded the Wage Protection System with the Central Bank of the UAE and Al Etihad Payments. LuLu Exchange was one of the launch partners, alongside e&, Botim, Al Ansari Exchange, GCC Exchange and Al Maryah Community Bank. The upgrade added real-time checks and instant transfers through Aani, the UAE’s 24/7 instant payments platform.
  • 1 June 2026: under MoHRE Ministerial Resolution No. 0340 of 2026, private-sector salaries must be paid by the first day of each month for the previous month. The old 15-day grace period was removed, and a company counts as compliant only if it pays at least 85% of total wages on time.

What to do if your salary is missing:

  1. Check again later that day or the next morning.
  2. Ask HR whether the salary file was uploaded. Employers upload it through LuLu Exchange’s My Pay Portal and receive a reference code called an MPN.
  3. If HR confirms payment and nothing arrives within 24 hours, call LuLu Exchange on 600 522 204.
  4. If your employer hasn’t paid, you can contact MoHRE on 800 60.

Lulu Salary Card Fees

Balance checks in the app, at a branch and at supported ATMs are generally free for the cardholder. The WPS fees LuLu Exchange publishes in its 2026 Key Facts Statement are mostly paid by the employer:

ChargePaid byMaximum (excluding VAT)
File processing, per fileEmployerAED 50
File processing, per monthEmployerAED 50
Annual feeEmployerAED 250
Salary record processingPer employee recordAED 5
Use of card outside the UAECardholderConversion and usage fees apply

LuLu Exchange notes that charges vary by customer and number of employees, and that changes are announced on its website, at branches or electronically.

Earned Wage Access: Getting Part of Your Salary Early

Many cardholders don’t know that the LuLu Money app offers Earned Wage Access (EWA), which lets eligible employees access up to 50% of salary already earned before payday, capped at AED 5,000. The advance is used for remittances and is deducted from the next salary.

It is not free. The official Key Facts Statement lists a fee of 5% of the amount plus VAT. For example, an AED 100 advance costs AED 5.25. If it isn’t repaid, collection fees of 12% to 24% apply depending on how late it is, and missed payments can be reported to the Al Etihad Credit Bureau. The service is provided by Abhi, with funds from Commercial Bank International (CBI). Only employees of participating employers are eligible. Check your balance first and use EWA only for genuine emergencies.
